The German national football team represents Germany in international football competitions since 1908. It is controlled by the German Football Association (DFB), the governing body of football in Germany. They have won three World Cups and have been finalists four times.

Since the 1954 World Cup, the German team has been equipped by the German company Adidas. For home games, the German team white shirts, black shorts and white socks. Different levels of red and gold - along with black, the other two colors of the German flag - were included in this evenly over the years.

Traditionally, the Germans brought green jerseys, white shorts and green socks alternate uniforms. In recent years, however, the Germans changed the color of their jerseys and socks drive to gray (2002-2003) and black (2004), and finally to red. The Germans had their red color as an alternative to the 2006 World Cup.

The German national team in World Cup 2006 was to prepare the former captain Juergen Klinsmann. From July 12, 2006, the former assistant coach Joachim Loew has coached the national team. The current captain of the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Michael Ballack.

Women

The German women's football team, also organized by the DFB, champions twice world champion, who won the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2003 under former coach Tina Theune-Meyer and 2007 Cup Women's World Cup under current coach Silvia Neiden. They are the first women's team successfully defended the World Cup. They also won the last five UEFA Women's Championships (1995, 1997, 2001, 2005, 2009). So far, Germany is the only nation that has won both men and Women's World Cups.

Women are also the first German to win the World Cup at the highest level for either men or women, without conceding a goal, having done so in 2007
